Oriole Guide is an independent resource for backyard birdwatchers who want to attract and understand Baltimore, Bullock’s, and Orchard Orioles. We focus on practical, biologically accurate advice — the kind that actually gets orioles visiting a feeder or nesting nearby, not generic songbird advice repackaged with a different bird’s name on it.
Our Approach
Orioles have distinctive, well-documented needs that set them apart from most backyard birds: they favor nectar, fruit, and jelly over seed, they build elaborate woven pouch nests rather than using cavities or boxes, and nearly all of them make a genuine long-distance migration to Central or South America each year. We write from that biology outward, not from a generic songbird template.
